MDOT is investing approximately $17 million to rebuild 4.5 miles of eastbound and westbound I-196 Business Loop (BL) from US-31 in Holland to 88th Avenue in Zeeland. Work includes asphalt resurfacing, full-depth concrete joint repairs, new signs, traffic signal work, crosswalk safety improvements, and new guardrail. UPDATES:
- Eastbound I-196 BL will be closed at US-31 and detoured from April 13 to August 1, and then westbound I-196 BL will close from August to November. Traffic will be detoured to 16th Street/Adams Street.
- 120th Avenue/Waverly Road is scheduled to close at eastbound I-196 Business Loop 7 a.m. Monday, April 29 through Sunday, May 19.
- The following intersections are scheduled to close at eastbound I-196 Business Loop Monday and Tuesday, April 29 and 30 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.: 101st Street, 100th Avenue, 96th Avenue (State Street), 92nd Avenue (Maple Street) and 88th Avenue (Fairview Road). Only one intersection will be closed at a time.
- Daily (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) lane closures for road work are in effect through May 3 on westbound I-196 Business Loop from 88th Avenue to 104th Avenue. Eastbound I-196 Business Loop remains closed from US-31 to 88th Avenue through August 1.
